Hello. I began practicing Pilates in January of '06. I have always been really into working out especially training abs. At first Pilates class was so difficult I almost could not keep up. I thought "This is an exercise for me." I went at it hard for six months and noticed changes. Over time a small indention in my obliques became a small valley crawling down the side of my stomach. "Yea! My first Pilates muscle!" I was so excited that I renewed my vigor with Pilates. When my instructor was unable to teach I would take the class alone. Students joined me and soon I had a class of followers. Next I got certified and took some continuing eduction classes. When it was time for my instructor to move on I simply stepped into place. It's been a great experience since then.
Fred grew up in Columbia and attended Cardinal Newman High School. After graduating from the College of Charleston, he began working with Ashley Studio as a wedding videographer and video editor. He formed his own business, Fred McGrew Video Productions in 2000, conveniently located in Columbia’s downtown Shandon neighborhood.
When he is not filming weddings, Fred can be found rock climbing, white water kayaking and running. He is also a certified instructor in yoga and Pilates.
Fred likes to keep his footprint as green as possible and prefers to get around Columbia on his bicycle.
